Birthday at the Belvedere

Today is Mary Frances' birthday and to celebrate we found our way to the Belvedere Palace Museum where four of her pieces were displayed in the exhibition:  GOLD http://www.belvedere.at/en/ausstellungen/aktuelle-ausstellungen/gold-e11739

Three of her pieces were designated as stops for people listening to audio descriptions of the exhibition.
In case you can't decipher the fine print, it relevant part it reads: "In contemporary art, gold leaf has ennobled the traditional gaze upon "dead nature" in old masterly manner..., and upon the objects of consumer society... Ecological commitment (MF Dondelinger), irony...,ornamentation..., and drastic accentuation of transitoriness..."

The greatest honor of all was that Mary Frances' triptych of the nativity was the ONLY traditional icon by a contemporary artist displayed in the Medieval gallery which consisted of three rooms of floor-to-ceiling icons from the 14th and 15th centuries--the best of the best.

Happy Birthday!
