I've had requests for more pictures, but sadly the gadget that converted my mini-SD card to something that could be read by my computer, has refused to upload the last few days of photos. A kindly judge has invited me to join DropBox, which should solve the problem, however I haven't been able to figure out how to use it, plus the internet connection is slow and spotty.
The bottom line is that I probably can't upload any photos until tomorrow or the next day from Paris.
In the meantime, here's a description of the fantastic tasting menu from Il Tufo Allegro in Pigliatano from an e-mail I sent to Gary:
It was an excellent meal, and has given me some great ideas for future menus. The best was the lamb which was divine—the waiters passed out serrated knives and I didn’t get one, but honestly, it could be cut with a fork. It was a tasting menu so there were at least 12 dishes, maybe 14-15: ricotta seasoned with caviar and fennel, some concoction with eel, an asparagus soufflé, celery root mousse, several kinds of hot bread and biscuits, a timbale of spelt(a molded grain dish), artichoke pastries, asparagus, tomato mousse, 3 pasta dishes—the best had asparagus and truffles; reconstituted salt cod, baked artichoke, spinach with pine nuts, lamb chops, and a whipped cream and strawberry dessert. I’m sure I missed some of the dishes. I think you would have liked trying some of the dishes, particularly the strange ones—the eel, the caviar dish, the spelt, and you would have loved the lamb and maybe the cod. When I get home I want to get an espresso machine—I’m positively addicted to cappuccinos and straight espresso.
Ciao!
